Stipends are awarded for a single calendar year in the amount of CZK 150,000. They are dedicated to PhD students and postdoctoral fellows conducting competitive research at universities or research institutes in the Czech Republic who are the primary caregiver of a preschool child.
The funds are intended to cover childcare services and can be used to pay for preschool education, a child’s play area, private babysitting, etc. The money is not intended to finance research.
Applications must be in English and must include:
The applicant’s CV with a full list of publications and conference presentations (3 pages max.)
1-year research plan (1–2 pages)
A description of the family situation and the envisaged use of the funds (1 page max.)
A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s mentor or direct supervisor
Applications for 2023 must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 15 October 2022. We will confirm receipt of the applications after evaluating fulfilment of the formal requirements.
Applications that meet the criteria are evaluated by an expert committee, which considers the quality of the scientific project and the professional CV of the applicants, among other things. The commission also takes into account the family situation of the applicants and how effectively the funds would help combine scientific work with care for a preschool child or children.
On the basis of the commission’s recommendations, the fund’s managing board will decide the award of stipends by the end of November. The decisions are final and cannot be appealed.
The stipend of CZK 150,000 is provided in two instalments. The first instalment of fifty percent is paid in January, and the second instalment is paid in July following submission of an interim report on the use of the funds. After the end of the year, the stipend holders submit a final report on the use of the funds and the results achieved.
